babies killed in micowave

Several months ago it came to light that a young mother had been arrested locally for placing her infant in a microwave oven. She denied this adamantly. With her trial beginning, she now admits that she was so drunk the night this happened that she can't remember anything. The reporter said they will probably seek the death penalty in this case. My problem is this; she has two older children. Will justice be served if they put her to death? I have seen many cases where the mother killed their baby and did not get the death penalty.
